Day 13- Tokyo (Ginza)

The weather today is pretty gloomy, with a grey sky that seems to suspend time. Rather than heading out to see the monuments, we thought we'd take a well-deserved break and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. So here we are, exploring the lively streets of Tokyo, where every corner reveals a new side to this fascinating city.

There are shops, cafés and small restaurants that encourage us to keep exploring. After a few minutes' walking, we head for Ginza Six, an iconic shopping centre in the chic Ginza district. This is more than just a shopping centre; it's a veritable temple of luxury where fashion, art and gastronomy meet. We're looking forward to discovering what this unique space has to offer and immersing ourselves in the elegance of this prestigious district.

I was surprised to find that the shopping centre had a number of Italian restaurants. It was only 11.30am, but there was already a crowd of customers outside, waiting for the doors to open. The delicious smells of Italian food filled the air, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere that attracted passers-by.

It was really interesting to see how Italian culture had made its way into the heart of Tokyo, with food lovers and those looking for new flavours alike being captivated. It was clear that people were keen to try some of the country's most famous dishes, including homemade pasta, crispy pizzas with golden crusts and irresistible desserts like tiramisu.

We took a moment to soak up the atmosphere while mulling over the idea of treating ourselves to these Italian treats during our exploration. The place was hectic, and the food was calling our names, so we joined the queue to see what these restaurants had to offer.

We decided to stop off at the 'Napule' restaurant, which is known for its delicious wood-fired pizzas. The delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen were simply irresistible. After a few minutes, our waitress came over with a smile and showed us to our table.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with decorations that gave the place a bit of an Italian feel. We couldn't wait to see what was on the menu and try the homemade pizzas, so we sat down. We could already taste the promise of crispy dough and tasty toppings. We were in for a treat!

I finally decided to treat myself to a delicious four-cheese pizza with a refreshing Italian lemonade on the side. I have to say, it was just as good as I was hoping it would be! The pizza was really tasty, with a perfectly baked crust and a great combination of cheeses.

On top of that, the staff were really friendly and welcoming, which added a nice personal touch to our dining experience. They were really attentive and happy to share their recommendations for other dishes on the menu. It was a nice surprise to be treated so well in this busy place, and it made our meal even more enjoyable. I'm really happy I made this choice and got to enjoy a taste of Italy right in the heart of Tokyo!

We then took a stroll through Ginza, where the buzzing atmosphere of the Saturday market was really noticeable. As the street was pedestrianised, crowds of people were making the most of the lively atmosphere. The windows of the luxury boutiques were sparkling, catching the eyes of the curious and the fashion-conscious.

When we went into the shopping centre, we were really pleased with how beautiful the interior decoration was. Every detail seemed to have been carefully considered, from the art installations to the lighting. It was more than just a shopping area – it was a real aesthetic experience. We made sure to check out all the different stalls, admiring the unique creations and trends in each corner. It was a real treat to get lost in this world of elegance and modernity.

Each floor was set up to make shopping a pleasure, with sections devoted to different collections, ranging from basics to more fashionable items. The atmosphere was buzzing, with shoppers checking out the latest fashions. We had a great time browsing the aisles and checking out the modern cuts and the Ginza collection.

Unfortunately, the number of visitors was so high that it was difficult to move around the shop. The small crowd made it a bit cramped and we realised it would be difficult to enjoy our visit in these conditions.

After a few minutes, we decided to head out. While it was great to see such a wide range of clothes, we thought we'd look for somewhere a bit quieter to carry on exploring Ginza. It was a good call, as we knew there was still lots more to see and enjoy in this busy area.

After a busy day, I headed to a café at Shinagawa station for a well-deserved snack. The place was really welcoming and the perfect spot to unwind after a day in the city.

I went for the French toast, which was a great choice – it was delicious! The brioche was perfectly golden, soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside, with a hint of sugar and some fresh fruit. I have to say, though, that the portion was a little too generous for me. Despite this, each bite was a pure delight, and I enjoyed this moment of respite, savouring the sweet taste while taking in the hustle and bustle of the station around me. It was a great way to end the day, after all the discoveries and sensations!

After some rest in the hotel, we went out for a meal before settling in for the night. We still had a few hours to spare and wanted to sample some of the delicious local cuisine before settling in.

We chose a small restaurant that looked promising, with a menu full of traditional Japanese dishes. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly and we looked forward to discovering new flavours. As we enjoyed our meal, we shared our impressions of this already memorable day and began to discuss our expectations for the day to come. Tomorrow would be a day full of emotions and discoveries and we looked forward to new and unforgettable experiences.
